Boy's U18 Team

Our Boys U18 team competed in the EHB National competition 2017/18 Season.

In the initial round we were drawn away against a strong Bedford team with the match being scheduled in the October half-term. Warwick were missing a few key players, travelling with a small squad. We competed well but lost on the day, which placed us into the EHB Tier 2 draw.

Our next game was drawn at home against St Neots, this time Warwick had their strength full squad, which proved overwhelming for the visitors. Our lads put on a most impressive and clinical performance running out 12-0 winners.

Now in Round 3, we were drawn at home against a strong Oxford Hawks side. What a battle of talent and determination this proved to be with the score fluctuating from Hawks going 2 up to Warwick getting level then going ahead, then Hawks came back again. In the final minutes Warwick's determination and skill earned them the winner making the final score 7-6 in a thrilling game to watch.

For Round 4, last 8 teams involved, Warwick were drawn at home again, this time against Norwich, a very strong club. Warwick was again at full strength and another tense, skillful, and thrilling match took place. Warwick went one down early on but, finding their form, forced themselves back into the game getting to two goals before half-time. Early in the second half Warwick scored again, Olli Hobbs earning himself a hat-trick, but Norwich stepped up the pressure to force one and then a second goal late on making it 3-3 at full time. So to penalty flicks, which all cam e down to the last flick with captain Dan Murray, who scored making Warwick the winners to go through to the semi-finals. All our lads can be very proud of their attitude and effort, we never gave up and the result was deserved, George Holding had a brilliant game in midfield, deceptive and confident on the ball, earning POTM.

Thank you to all the parents who have come along to cheer us on, we appreciated you support.

Our Semi-final match is again at home, Warwick School astro 14:00 start vs Canterbury, one of the countries biggest clubs. Come along to support our lads and see some really impressive hockey skills.

Our Boys U18 team competed in the EHB National competition 2016/17 Season.

Following a bye in the first round Warwick traveled to Sutton Coldfield on Sunday 6th November 2016 to earn a 2-0 win with some very skillful team play. Round 3 on 20th November and we traveled again, this time to Telford & Wrekin, a close first half ended 1-1 but Warwick turned on the pressure to run out 5-1 winners.

Our Warwick Boys U18 have been brilliant in progressing to Round 4 of the England Hockey Board Cup national competition for clubs; the last 16. On Sunday 5th February Round 4 was another away game with a trip to previous cup winners Cambridge City. We competed well against a very well drilled team with quick passing and practiced switch play moves, their large squad included several England junior level players. 0-2 down at half time with Cambridge having much of the possession and attacking play but we had a chance or two. The fast pace of the game and high quality of passing play by Cambridge earned them further goals in the second half, again we had chances denied by the Cambridge GK. Ultimately the score shows 0-6, which was a bit harsh for us but Cambridge deserved the win. All our lads can be very proud of their attitude and effort, we never gave up, George Holding had a brilliant game in midfield, deceptive and confident on the ball, earning POTM. Thank you to all the parents who traveled to cheer us on, we appreciated you support.

Our Boys U18 team competed in the EHB National competition 2015/16 Season.

Following a bye in the first round Warwick traveled to Stourport on Sunday 8th November 2015. A superb performance by our boys knocked Stourport right out of the competition with an emphatic 4-1 win. Next round Warwick were drawn away again to face tough opponents Cannock on Sunday 22nd November. Our boys competed well and earned great credit and appreciation from the watching Cannock supporters as they bowed out of the competition 0-4.

This season's competition was always going to be a learning and experience building challenge and opportunity for our young squad being made up of U18s, U17s, U16s and a few U15s. The future looks bright at Warwick Hockey Club!
